Ribbond is a powerful material that opens new doors in restorative dentistry, but it comes with a steep learning curve. With multiple applications—circumferential, buccal, gingival, palatal, and even as a post—finding the most suitable technique is often a matter of debate.
In this case, my priority was reinforcing the remaining tooth structure by applying Ribbond. Looking back, incorporating the palatal wall more effectively would have been a stronger approach.
While Ribbond significantly enhances both tooth structure and restoration strength compared to conventional composite resin, lateral forces still need to be accounted for. That’s why an overlay is planned to ensure the long-term success of the restoration.
I wanted to share this step of the process while enjoying the challenge of rebuilding almost the entire anatomy of a premolar—one of the most satisfying parts of cases like these. Every case is a learning experience, and this one was no exception.
