Sometimes a prompt decision can be the only solution ahead!! We had a similar situation right before Diwali 🪔! An Indo-Guyanese lady from the US came to us with multiple missing teeth and existing flexible dentures which she said are if no use. The visibility of the anteriors too was one of the concerns to start with.
We had about 20 days until her departure from Mumbai.
1. Extractions with an immediate denture was ruled out as I wouldn’t have seen her anytime soon.
2. Implants were ruled out by her as she wasn’t looking for any invasive procedure.
This left me with one option, utilising existing teeth and making an overdenture Ali with a cast partial denture for the opposing arch. She was certainly elated with the final outcome.
Challenges postoperatively: She might land up wearing and tearing the nylon inserts in the female housings. We provided here with some additional inserts and a tool to extract and replace the worn out ones.
We had a great time treating her, amazed by her trust on us. It was just once we had a video call earlier where she also shared the images of her old dentures. Have a look at the image slides. Let me know if you need me!!
