Treating an upper third molar can at times be tricky.. the difficulties one encounters include..
- Difficulty in access
- Difficulty in visibility
- Isolation from saliva .
- Buccal malpositioning of the tooth.
Here a case of an upper third molar with a mesial class 2 with secondary caries was treated. Simple tips to aid the procedure have been described in the photographs.

because prep of the tooth can be very difficult once dam is placed.. it is done before placing the dam when access is difficult. Notice that a folded tofflemaire is kept to protect the distal surface of 7.

matrixing is shown with placement of a tor vm matrix and clamp with a wooden wedge. note that use of a palodent or garrison clamp would be very difficult here as it would interfere with the rubber dam clamp..
build up done..
Now prep of #7 is done..
teflon was placed in the interdental embrasure to prevent any etchant flowing into that region..
