Excessive gingival display or “gummy smile” is a growing concern to dental patients and often considered detrimental to an esthetic smile. Gingival display of more than 4 mm of gingiva is considered by many to be unattractive. The cause of the gummy smile can be multifactorial and must be accurately diagnosed to render appropriate treatment. Factors that contribute to the gummy smile include altered passive eruption, lip length, lip hypermobility, incisal wear/crown length, and vertical maxillary excess and gingival hyperplasia.
It is important to assess the patients’ esthetic expectations and show the possible therapeutic solutions that fit him. We revealed that BT is considered as one of the minimally invasive, quick and affordable modalities that can replace extensive surgical procedures for corrections of sever GS.
Management of sever gummy smile case and replacement of old veneers
In this case we performed surgical crown lengthening followed by temporary restorations (PMMA) for 3 months, after healing period lithium disilicate crowns were fabricated and bonded
Botox injection was performed to completely enhance the patient smile after correction with SCL.li
